Well, this is certainly true. I do try to read all of my older books again but sometimes it’s hard since there are so many to read. I used to read The Stand and Swan Song every year but I have to admit I have not done that lately. I think it’s time to start doing this again. I think I will only keep a copy of an older book in my reading list that includes real books and keep reading the new stuff on my Kindle. We’ll see how this goes but I’m actually reading an older one right now that I found. I had loaned it out years ago and could not find it again. I did a search on Amazon for a certain name of someone in the book and found it.
I was recently so excited to receive an invitation to Ink Slinger Books. They have awesome anthologies that I am lucky to have been able to read and now I can contribute as well. This is an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful to my new friend, A.J. Armitt. Check out his books; you won’t be disappointed.
I am on page 37 along with some really awesome penny fiction. Here’s the link to the latest issue of From the Depths. Mine is at the top, the very first one.
I got an email with some recommendations from Amazon and my story was in there. What is neat is that it was a separate email not connected with that account. So that means perhaps other people got a similar email if they like similar types of stories. Here’s a screen shot. Thank you, Amazon!
I have a new short story out. You can get it here on Amazon for just 99 cents. It’s called Weight Watcher and it’s not your typical horror but like the others, it does have a little something extra. I hope you enjoy it.
The 13 word story I submitted to the fall 2012 issue of From the Depths is ready to see. This is a gorgeous magazine and you can view it for free. My story is amongst some awesome 13 word stories and for those that want more, there are tons of long stories in there that you may like. You can find it here:
Other than trying to work and all that, I recently had a short, flash fiction piece accepted in the Fall 2012 issue of From the Depths from Haunted Waters Press. That is exciting and I’ll let you know when it is published. It was from a contest I entered and it is a mere 13 words long.
I am also working on a short story that I wrote recently. It needs cleaning up, a few eyes other than my own and all that but I do like it. It is called Weight Watcher and look for it to come out soon.
Well, not robbed but stolen from. I was doing a search and found one of my copyrighted stories that I sell on Amazon on a site. Now normally I could write to the site and show them the work is copyrighted and needs to be taken down but for one, it’s a foreign site and the other reason I didn’t write them is that I cannot find the contact information. It’s similar to Pinterest but yeah, foreign. My entire story is uploaded into a pdf for anyone to read and what is ir0nic (or whatever since I always say it’s ironic and it’s not – kind of like the Alanis Morissette song) is that my copyright is still on the page.
They stole the whole thing including the wording about copyright. <sigh> I won’t say where or how I found it so no one else reads it for free but there it was/is. 😦
I once had an entire blog post stolen from me. It was a post I made that happened to start trending and showed up on Google as one of the top searches. I wrote to them (they were a foreign site too) and they changed it to reflect that it was my post and linked to me. I can’t seem to do that with this site and not sure what to do. It’s late so I’ll think on it more once I have a clear, unfatigued head. ‘
Maybe I should steal their soul like I stole this meme.
I have Peaceable Kingdom for free starting the 26th and running for three days. Since this story is rather extreme or some might find it offensive, it’ll be interesting if I get any negative reviews or comments. However, I think that the sample should give an idea of what it’s like. It’s just one paragraph but that paragraph has that one word that some hate so we’ll see how it goes. If you haven’t read it, now is your chance. 🙂 Just head over to Amazon tomorrow and pick it up at no charge. Just click here Peaceable Kingdom
I thought I’d try out the KDP Select promo where you offer an e-book or story free for a few days. I put Make a Wish up today and it’s already showing this:
- Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1,026 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store)
#9 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Fiction > Short Stories
I told my husband I was #9 and he said that’s great. I said, I’m even above Rikki Tikki Tavi and he said, I can’t have that, I love that book. LOL I agree, it was one of my favorites growing up. Anyway, let’s hope this gets me some new readers that buy my other short stories too. 🙂
